Deacon Michael Cook Reposes in the Lord

Fr. Deacon Michael Cook, 76, fell asleep in the Lord November 30. His parish was Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Palos Park, Illinois.

Born November 3, 1941, the Chicago native was the son of Henry and Evelyn Cook, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Rose Cook; his children: Jonathan, Sarah (Billy) Thomas, Aaron (Devon); brother Phillip and seven grandchildren.

He was ordained a deacon in the Latin Church and became active in hospital chaplaincy. Later he became acquainted with the Ukrainian Catholic Church, and received a transfer of ritual Church, to allow him to serve as needed.

The Panakhyda was celebrated December 3 at the Nativity church, and the funeral was on Monday, December 4.
