Clergy Retreat: The Business of Prayer


This year’s annual retreat was in a familiar setting—Cardinal Sritch Retreat House in Mundelein, Illinois, although the facility’s furnishings have undergone some renovations. Tiled floors have given way to carpeting—the stairwells and elevator; the chapel carpet looks more “church-y”, but there’s no mistaking the underlying ambiance.

Last evening at the St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral the fifth eparch of St. Nicholas eparchy, Bishop Benedict (Aleksiychuk), accompanied by clergy from the Chicago deanery prayed for the repose of the soul of his immediate predecessor, the Bishop Richard S. Seminack.

Cardinal Lubomyr Husar Dies


On May 31, 2017, at 18:30 after a serious illness His Beatitude Lubomyr (Husar), Archbishop Emeritus of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Church died at the age of 85.

From January 26, 2001 to February 10, 2011 he was the Major Archbishop of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.

New Bishop of the Eparchy of Saint Nicholas in Chicago for the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Appointed


The Holy Father has appointed as bishop of the Eparchy of Saint Nicholas in Chicago for the Ukrainians (United States of America) His Grace Venedykt (Aleksiychuk, M.S.U.), transferring him from the titular see of Germaniciana and the office of auxiliary of the archieparchy of Lviv of the Ukrainians.

Funeral Rites for Bishop Richard (Seminack)


It is usual that funeral rites span several days. The funeral for His Grace, Bishop Richard (Seminack) was not exceptional in this regard.
