St. Michael's in Tucson Experiences the Blessings of the Eparchial Jubilee Icon


Tucson prays for other parishes and for the sick with Jubilee icon St. Michael Parish in Tucson celebrated a Moleben to the Mother of God during the visit of the Jubilee icon in January, 2011. Every parishioner received the name of a parish, mission or monastery in the Eparchy and was asked to pray for them for at least a week.  Some parishioners then sent cards to the parishes in question in order to tell them that they had been praying and thinking of them.

Celebration of The Feast of St. Michael The Archangel in Milwaukee


On Sunday, November 7, 2010, the parishioners of St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Milwaukee, WI, celebrated the feast of St. Michael the Archangel and all the other Holy Angels.  Parishioners and friends attended the Divine Liturgy with Bishop Richard (Seminack) and Father Philaret Littlefield and Father Volodymyr Zaiats as concelebrants, and Father Deacon Nicholas Chabin.  Immediately following the Liturgy the congregation enjoyed a delicious dinner of Ukrainian foods and an assortment of desserts prepared by some of the women of the parish and coordinated by Ms. Melania Stupnyckyj.

Chicago Deanery Gets Ready to Greet Jubilee Icon

A recent meeting of the priests of the Chicago Deanery was held at Nativity of the BVM Church in Palos Park, Illinois. After a Moleben to the Mother of God celebrated by Fr Basil Salkovski OSBM, pastor and Dean, the clergy gathered to discuss parochial participation in the current Jubilee Year.

Priests of Metropolitan See on Retreat


Retreats for clergy are annual this year a plan was set up to convene events, usually conducted in a quite quiet place--a "retreat house" operated by a religious order, with special built-in facilities: a chapel; a library of "spiritual reading" material; and a simple yet comfortable arrangement for food, sleep, recreation, camaraderie and a place to hear the usual three-a-day conferences.

ECED Autumn Meeting Falls into Place


The semi-annual meeting of the Conference of the Eastern Catholic Eparchial Directors of Religious Education (ECED) was held Monday, November 1-Thursday, November 4 in Houston, Texas.

Traveling Icon in Oregon

The Eparchial Jubilee Year Icon of the Protection of the Mother of God arrived in the South-West Deanery.  Its first stop was at the Nativity of the Mother of God Church in Springfield, Oregon, where it was venerated at the Sunday Divine Liturgy on October 17th.  Fittingly, that Sunday was the Commemoration of the Fathers of the Seventh Ecumenical Council, who upheld the use and veneration of icons:

St Michael Parish in Tucson Participates in Two Tucson Festivals


October 2010 turned out to be a very busy month for Tucson's St. Michael Parish. October 1st and 2nd saw the parish participating actively in Tucson's Slavic Festival with a parish booth for the first time. The festival, which has been organized for many years by St. Melany Byzantine Ruthenian Parish, brings together various Slavic groups, from Poles to Czechs, to Bulgarians to Ukrainians and Russians. In addition to staples of Slavic food, crowds come for the various dance groups and orchestras that provide entertainment.

Jubilee Icon Visits Twin Cities

The Twin Cities of Minneapolis/Saint Paul, Minnesota were visited by the Jubilee Icon of the Mother of God, having first been in other deanery parishes in Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado and North Dakota.

Jubilee Icon Comes to North Dakota

On Sunday, September 12, St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church, Fair- field, North Dakota and St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Belfield, North Dakota hosted the Jubilee Icon of the Protection of the Mother of God, commemorating the Fiftieth Anniversary of the establishment of the Enarchy of St. Nicholas.

A Day of Three Blessings at SS Volodymyr and Olha


On Sunday, September 17, 2010, a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy was celebrated at the Church of Sts. Volodymyr and Olha in Chicago, which marked three important events.   First was the celebration of the Feast of the Protection of the Theotokos--the “second Parish Feast Day.”  Second: the Ordination of Roman Artymovych to the Holy Deaconate.  Third: the blessing of the newly-reconstructed courtyard in front of the Church.  Presiding over these three events was our Eparchial Bishop, His Grace Richard Stephen (Seminack).
