“One Lord, one faith, one Baptism”
Glory be to Jesus Christ!
My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Because of my office as your Bishop of a territory that expands over seventeen states, I have come to do a little traveling in getting around to all the parishes. Every time I pack my suitcase, I end up putting in there more than I use. It seems that many of us take more for our journey than is needed. I pack way too much and regret the unreasonably heavy bag I drag along.
Faith is a journey where we should take along the least amount of baggage. Jesus instructs us as we set out on our mission to travel lightly. He tells His disciples to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick - no food, no sack, and no money in their belts. As the writer of the Hebrews says, what we are dealing with is not something "which could be touched" anyway. It is a mystery and a miracle. Traveling lightly makes room for mystery and miracles to happen.
I am inviting you to travel this journey of mystery and miracle. What may take place in your life will bring you closer to the God of all mysteries and miracles. Our journey of faith will ask you to travel lightly by offering to the welfare of our journey in bringing the Lord to our people in the tradition we have promoted and respected over the centuries. Your offering to our Eparchial Appeal titled, Faith — Our Journey will see to it that the faith will be shared through our Eparchy by the education of priests, the upkeep of our parishes that need aid, the promotion of the teaching of our faith and traditions, and in general, the financial and spiritual welfare of our Eparchy.
May you witness many good and holy happenings. You shall be remembered in the Divine Liturgy along with your families as we celebrate this Year of Faith.
Your Brother in Christ,
Most Reverend Richard Seminack
Bishop of Saint Nicholas Eparchy
